Abbaye de Fontenay The Abbey was founded in 1118 on the site of a hermitage. 

This Cistercian Monastery has a wide and varied history and was at one time a paper factory. Amongst it's owners is Elie de Montgolfier who was a member of the famous Montgolfier Brothers family. 

In 1981 the Abbaye was declared by UNESCO as part of the World's Heritage and today guided and non guided tours can be taken daily.
